Ridgeview Athletic Sock – Revolutionizing The Sock Industry

New Fibers are revolutionizing the once sleepy sock industry and have captured the attention of sports retailers and consumers alike. Ridgeview, maker of the Rockport, Coleman and Woolrich sock brands, is the first to introduce a line of “technology-specific” socks created to perform targeted functions such as moisture management and blister control.

TechLine by Ridgeview, is the new technical apparel line geared both for serious athletes and as everyday activewear.

Field tested, athletes absolutely swear by the moisture control sock featuring TRANSPOR fabric. Consistently, they comment that it provides a significant leg up on any other fabric technology that moves moisture away from the skin and continuously provides wearers with a dry layer next to the skin, whatever the weather. A fabric technology breakthrough, TRANSPOR allows the sock to go “beyond wicking” because its yarns do not absorb perspiration but rather move perspiration vertically to the outermost layers.

Imagine pouring a cup of water into a sock, giving it a squeeze, and within seconds the inner layer next to your skin feels dry, said Ander Horne, Ridgeview’s V.P. of national sales and marketing. Technology-specific constructions for athletic and activewear is at the leading edge of where the market is heading, said Horne, “driven by a new consumer expectations and heightened activity levels.”

The three technical socks being introduced this spring under the TechLine name include:

TRANSPOR For Dry Feet. TRANSPOR socks provide the next generation in moisture management technology through a permanent, proprietary technology which enables fabric worn next to the skin to be dry on the skinside while moist on the outside. Perspiration exits vertically through the spaces between the yarn in the TRANSPOR dry layer and spreads horizontally across the wicking layer where it evaporates.
