In a press release for the Outdoor Retailer Show, Lori Crabtree lists the following gear being aimed at the walking market: Brunton - Security Alarm Pedometer Walk and stay safe with a pedometer that includes a security alarm. "We've discovered that most fitness walkers were women over 40 years old, so we developed a new line of pedometers that tracks walking distances with a 120-decibel alternating alarm for added security," said John Smithbaker, President of Brunton. Camelbak - Waistpack Hydration Systems Known for its backpack hydration packs for cyclists, Camelbak debuted waistpacks with a hydration bladder and sipper tube. The FlashFlo waistpack carries 45 oz. of water - as much as two water bottles, with zipper pouch for a few essentials. The Day Trekker also carries 45 oz. of water but has a larger cargo compartment suitable for carrying a camera and more, plus a bungee cord for attaching your jacket when you warm up. SmartWool - Walking Socks By designing lighter weight socks with plenty of cushion just for walkers, SmartWool has seen its sales shoot up 64% for its walking socks.
