Gel Padded Sock – Absorbs Shock And Provides Comfort |

September 07, 2005 By: William Pensworth Gel Padded Sock – Absorbs Shock And Provides ComfortLet's face it - our feet take a lot of abuse, whether at work or play. This abuse translates into pain, not only in the foot, including the arch, ball and heel, but in the ankle, knee and back, as well. "With every step, the foot comes into contact with the hard ground, particularly when exercising, and the impact generates a shock that travels throughout the lower body," says Nicholas M. Romansky, D.P.M. and team podiatrist for the U.S. World Cup and Olympic Soccer Teams. Dr. Romansky says that the pressure on our feet can be as much as two to three times actual body weight. "Not wearing proper cushioning on our feet is causing many of the leg, foot and back problems we see today." Wearing a well-made shoe or sneaker can help to absorb some of this shock, but now there is a sock to further aid in providing comfort and cushioning. The Silipos Soft Walk Gel Sock was designed with a proprietary gel insole to help absorb shock right at the source - the bottom of the foot. "Wearing the Soft Walk Gel Sock helps prevent the spread of shock and sheer forces to the rest of the body," says Peter Bickel, executive vice president of Silipos, "instead, putting a bounce back into your step." Its cushioning gel layer not only absorbs shock, but it also conforms to the foot, helping to ward off painful blisters and calluses. "A good pair of sneakers, coupled with a pair of the Soft Walk Gel Socks, will help keep feet comfortable where they tread, be it at the gym or the grocery store," adds Bickel. A single layer sock containing a thin layer of gel (1/16-inch) throughout the sole area, the Soft Walk Gel Sock can be worn as a regular sock without requiring extra-depth shoes. Made from a cotton/nylon blend, it is excellent for many sport activities or everyday use. Socks are available in white or black, can be hand- or machine-washed, and should be dried on low heat.
