Birkenstock socks – A Household Brand Name

In 1897, Konrad Birkenstock first designed his company’s contoured insole for shoes, and in 1902 he again designed a flexible arch support. Then in 1964, his direct descendants in this same company designed the famous sandal that is synonymous with contoured insoles, and these were first exported to California two years later. With the help of Margot Fraser, this company grew and today manufactures not only shoes, clogs, sandals, and arch supports, but also the new Birkenstock socks.

The Birkenstock sock can be ordered in many materials and in both men’s and women’s fashions. However, their most unlikely sock comes in the Eco-Friendly line they have recently introduced. These particular socks are made with 48% Ecospun fibre, which comes from recycled plastic bottles and yet it is however a very soft and durable boot sock. The company also makes a complete range of cashmere socks, plush Polyester socks, mostly cotton socks, rayon socks and wool blend socks in various lengths and colours. A new range of brightly coloured peds is also now available for padding around in cosy comfort.

These socks are designed primarily to compliment the Birkenstock shoes and sandals in particular. Runners or joggers who for example wear orthotic supports in their shoes are encouraged to maintain their correct foot arching and body posture after a run, by wearing shoes, scandals and socks that continue to correctly support their feet. Today, most believe that it is equally important to wear the correct shoes and socks at all times while running and when not running. These socks fit and look great in those after-exercising Birkenstock loafers.
