Running Socks – Wearing the Right Sock is Important

Many runners have suffered from sore feet with blisters and sore toes and heels. There can be many different reasons for this to occur, however one reason can be not wearing the correct running socks to protect your feet while you are pounding the pavement. Socks play a very important role in your exercise program. Sore feet and blisters often mean taking a few days off and in severe cases meaning not running at all for a week. Most serious runners will pay a lot of attention to their feet and wear the right running shores and wear the right socks.

Socks for running should first and foremost create dry conditions for your feet. A lot of moisture building up means that you skin becomes soft and moist and creates excellent conditions for blisters to form. In addition with all of this moisture being created while jogging, there is a great breeding ground for all kinds of microbes to irritate your feet. A padded sock that will wick the moisture away from your foot and out the top will create a much dryer situation on a long distance run.

Socks also need to be changed often and if you can afford the luxury, even during your training runs to protect your feet and avoid any damage from moisture. The socks you use for running should also be soft and padded to ensure that your foot is kept well away from the shoe and avoid any rubbing which also can cause blisters very quickly. Various venders such as WrithSock, Thorlo and Adidas all have excellent socks that can be used for running and protecting your feet while jogging.
